Experience With Choroid Plexus Cysts?

Yesterday, my doctor’s office called to tell me that my baby girl (20 weeks gestation) has a “few” choroid plexus cysts bilaterally. I have done all the research, and I know that they can either go away on their own, or be a soft marker for Trisomy 18. They are scheduling me for a level II ultrasound. My question is, does anyone know what other markers they will be looking for in this ultrasound as indicators of Trisomy 18? I am beside myself with worry. I have to travel a couple of hours to Phoenix just to have the scan done, and I would really like to know what they will look for so I can keep my eyes open, too.
Please, if you have experienced this, I am looking for any measure of comfort at this point.
Thank you so much, in advance.

2 of my 5 babies (interestingly they were both girls) also were found to have several choroid plexus cysts. When I was pregnant with my now 8 year old I was very worried and we even had to do genetic counseling before our level ll. It took 3 weeks to get in for the ultrasound and I was so sick and emotional the whole 3 weeks. Got on the ultrasound table and all the cysts had completely dissolved all ready! With our last baby they told us that she also had several CPCs we chose NOT to have the level ll ultrasound since our midwife assured us that more and more doctors have decided that these cysts are a common part of normal brain development. I’m happy to say that both girls are extremely bright, started talking early and our 8 year old is a math whiz and taught herself to read when she was 3 years old.
To answer your other question during the level ll ultrasound some of the things they will be looking for are Heart defects, small receding jaw, clubbed feet, and clenched fists with overlapping fingers.
Good luck and congrats on your beautiful blessing!

I don’t know if I can answer your question – but I was told the same exact thing by my doctor. They are perfectly normal. When she told me – I busted out crying, almost had a NERVOUS break down, and I could not control my emotions for 3 days. Then when I came back down to reality – I did my research and found out they are normal. I’m praying for you and your baby – everything will be fine :)
    Good luck!
