I took notice of his answer saying that he didn’t know what has taken place but the article also reads…
“Gallegos, who was wanted on a misdemeanor warrant for a fight at a fast-food restaurant in October, appeared “nervous” when detectives questioned him….”
Didn’t know what was going on but was nervous?
Yeah, he should get the death penalty, but liberals are against capital punishment. They don’t like the idea of their own kind being put to death. Abortion is legal, so makes the stunt he pulled any different?
The most you can hope for is they put him in a mental hospital for the next 30 years.

There are and always will be justifiable cases for the death penalty. This is certainly one of them!

Indeed. While one is quite willing to believe that this man is not right in the head, which is very sad, the fact remains that given the circumstances of his crime and probable motivation, you can almost count on his doing it again. For that reason, he needs to be dead. Not as a punishment, not to teach him anything at all, but to remove the threat of his existence from society, to protect the productive citizens to whom he will continue to be dangerous.
I have every compassion for a rabid dog, I recognize that his behavior is not a matter of will but the result of viral infection, that he is suffering agonies and does not mean to harm. But I would still kill him, not alone to relieve his suffering, but to prevent him harming others or spreading his affliction. Same thing with this sort of creature.
It is immaterial that he is not mentally sound and may not have a firm grasp on reality. The fact remains that he killed those children, and knew that what he did was wrong, or he wouldn’t have attempted to cover it up. By law, that makes him sane, and by his obvious inability to control himself, a continuing threat to the rest of society. For the good of future victims, he needs to be dead.
This is not punishment, it is penalty, and is one of the most critical functions civilization performs, and ought to perform, for its members.

While it is tempting to put him in with the family members or to practice the old ‘eye for an eye’ method of dealing with this issue I think that would put undue strain on them.
In regards to the Death penalty, it is not meant to be a punishment; as its name implies, it is a penalty which is applied to deserving wrongdoers. And, as we saw with Dahmer, when you try to hide evidence of what you have done, you Do very much know it is wrong. Society is not adjured to kill people who do things like this as a punishment, it is to put the perpetrator down like the animal that he is.
Why can’t we just keep them in prison the rest of their lives? you ask. Because, in my opinion, this is further tormenting the victim by forcing him to support the animal who as already preyed upon him.

Another case where the theory of rehabilitation and compassion for the criminal is outweighed by the need to make him pay for his crime. While there are worse punishments then death, those are also considered illegal in our supposedly civil society. Two small boys are dead, the lawyers and judges will get rich and justice will not be served

My favorite answer to this for those whom should get the death penalty- either drop them off on an isolated island a huge distance from civilization and let them fend for themselves among others of their kind or let them have a chance with some hungry wild lions in an arena unarmed-no human spectators(there are people who would love to watch)-if they find a way to survive(not likely) they would end up with life in prison(even if found mentally unfit).

He should be on death row. I can’t stand people like that, they make this world even more perilous and scary. What goes into your mind when you think to do that? “Hey, a baseball bat for Christmas! Thanks Mom! Hey, you kids over there! Let’s go to the park so I can beat you upside the head!” Goodness Gracious.

I had a boss once tell me that the only deserving punishment for people like this, is to put them in a room with family members to deal with them in anyway they wish. That included beating them to death, if not within an inch of their own life.

After 30 years working with the mentally ill, I have learned one thing; they know what they are doing ! They are crazy, not stupid ! They do remember what they do, even schizophrenics. Most of the time they learn how to play the system, and are just plain mean. I have seen patients released, because some Dr. decided they were cured, only to commit murder again ! I see nothing wrong with putting someone like this to death, society will be safer.

Yes! He needs to be put down AND I will bet anything that if you look into it this guy is ILLEGAL! Every time something like this happens in this city it almost always turns out to be an illegal that did it!
When will we as Americans get tired of this and start doing something about it!

the more i hear about this kind of crime, the more “an eye for an eye” sounds like the right form of punishment. people should have done to them what they do to others.

  12. dreamwvr on Mon, 14th Dec 2009 12:40 am

yes but i would love for him to suffer first for a short time in the big house in general population

  13. dan m on Mon, 14th Dec 2009 1:21 am

Agreed. If capital punishment is not available, I suggest he be given a GPS ankle bracelet and put under house arrest at the ACLU’s headquarters. He can take care of their security needs.

Even thought they said he’s probably schizophrenic, I think the the death penalty is justified in this case.

I would not enjoy being on the firring squad as much as the baseball bat squad

  16. notyoung on Mon, 14th Dec 2009 2:32 am

The death penalty I think is too kind for him!
I did hear that he is mentally ill though for what it’s worth
    Peace

for crimes like these i think the person should get the same thing they did on the victim done to them! in other words beat that mother ******!

  18. AC on Mon, 14th Dec 2009 4:00 am

yes death by baseball bat beating sounds about right to me.

  19. fantasy gal on Mon, 14th Dec 2009 4:19 am

I agree and would gladly volunteer to serve on the firing squad.

  20. porquemo on Mon, 14th Dec 2009 4:51 am

That is so terribly sad. It makes me ill.

  21. ChrisChr on Mon, 14th Dec 2009 5:28 am

Another man sent thousands of 18-20 year olds to a foreign country where many of them were mercilessly blown up and killed in a war
that was not sanctioned by the UN. And many thousands of innocent men women and children were also killed.
He is your current president. In this case I would agree with the death penalty.

  22. Maya R on Mon, 14th Dec 2009 6:11 am

I’m not trying to excuse what he did but I also don’t think the death penalty is appropriate for those who have a history of mental illness like he did. He is reportedly a schizophrenic and probably doesn’t remember doing it. It would be better to keep him institutionalized for the rest of his life.

  23. RoVale on Mon, 14th Dec 2009 6:29 am

will two wrongs make a right?
People here have suggested cruel and inhuman treatment for the perpetrator, Yes its a sick sad world, but do we have the right to exercise the power of life/death over other humans?

  24. n0spam4m on Mon, 14th Dec 2009 7:06 am

no . the death penalty is the the punishment of failed states.
Once a state starts to kill its own people there is no telling where it will stop.
They can always find a good excuse for doing it.
